Grassroots Mobilization in Salima
Real, lasting community transformation thrives on peer-to-peer connection. This week, BCLD brought together young women and girls from Bibi Kuluunda in the Salima district for an intensive, three-day training program focused on Safe Abortion awareness, SRHR policy orientation, and policy advocacy.
The Essential Role of Peer Mentors
Following this training, these young advocates will step into the field as Peer Mentors. They will conduct both one-on-one and group sessions with fellow young people to raise critical awareness about professional Post-Abortion Care (PAC) services available at local health facilities, educate their peers on what Malawi's SRHR policies say about their right to access healthcare, and break down social barriers surrounding youth sexual health.
Bridging the Gap: Youth and Local Leaders
To sustain this momentum, BCLD has successfully established a joint community advocacy network that unites local youth with traditional community leaders. We firmly believe this collaborative network will safeguard the healthcare of our target population, ensuring that the demand for high-quality, stigma-free medical services is fully respected.
