Theory to Practice: BCLD and IPAS-Malawi Finalize Intensive CAC/PAC Healthcare Training

Cultivating Clinical Expertise

We have officially wrapped up our week-long orientation training for healthcare workers and BCLD staff on national Comprehensive Abortion Care (CAC) and Post-Abortion Care (PAC) guidelines. The intensive session was facilitated by expert CAC and PAC trainer Ronald Mwala through IPAS-Malawi.

To build deep clinical understanding and genuine field expertise, the training was meticulously divided into two core phases: three days of theory establishing a firm grasp of medical rights, national legal frameworks, and patient-centered protocols, and two days of practical work providing hands-on experience to build technical expertise and provider confidence.

Three days of medical theory plus two days of practical application equals empowered healthcare providers.

The Roadmap Forward

In closing the event, participants collaboratively drafted a strategic roadmap. Moving forward, healthcare providers are committed to delivering enhanced, stigma-free post-abortal care, while BCLD will spearhead evidence-based community advocacy to shift local mindsets and liberate survivors from discrimination.

Our sincere thanks go to AmplifyChange for their vital financial backing, alongside the shared solidarity of WomenStrong International, UNFPA Malawi, Purposeful, and the Hlanganisa Community Fund.
